The Monthly Top Ten: Spring Break Edition!

I've been holding out on posting this month's Monthly Top Ten, well for a few reasons ... first, I didn't get around to making one because I couldn't think of anything clever, and second when I did think of something, I needed to wait until it was relevant to post ... so of course, it's all about spring break!

Woo!HOO! We made it! I don't know about you, but third quarter is always the most insane time for me. Every. Single. Year. Something. Bad. Happens.

This year, it was no different.

I definitely earned my TWO, count them, TWO, weeks off.

{I'm totally loving this extended school year schedule}

So, in honor of 18 days without having to set an alarm, here's this late edition of the monthly top ten?: Spring Break Edition!

So, how am I celebrating my 18 days off?

1. Of course, Netflix has been playing in the background, and of course today, I finally finished all the seasons of NCIS (I've been working on that one for almost a year!), and now I'm at a loss of what to watch to hold my interest ... any good ideas out there?

2. I'm working on painting my front door black to add a little curb appeal to the front of the house... however, the weather hasn't been appreciative of my desire to be productive - rain, hail and that weird grapple in between stuff?!?! has led to blue paint on the outside of my door for longer than expected.

3. Sleeping in, enough said!

4. Last weekend, I hosted a Nerdy 30 birthday party for a friend... complete with glasses and a nerdy dress!

5. Thrifting! I love a good thrift store find, and this time around, I scored! I bought some house hold decor from a cute new shop that I will be returning to (old books, a cute old sifter and recipe box for the kitchen and some cool old glass jars filled with vintage marbles, jacks and dice), a bread machine, a few sweaters, an adorable dress, and several other things ... gotta love thrift store shopping on a teacher's budget!
6. I had a good friend and her kids over the other day to see the house, it's coming along pretty amazingly ... but I desperately need to get some stuff down outside ... It was nice to see her and her kiddos and catch up!

7. I'm excited to see my family for the first time since starting college for Easter! I'll also get to celebrate my lil brother's 21st birthday! Love some good family time!

8. The boy and I went to run some errands today and I talked him into lunch at Kneaders ... so delicious! I'm hoping for one more outing to lunch for Hawaiian food next week ... keep your fingers crossed for me as he works nights and I'm interrupting prime sleep time by being home for two weeks!

9. I took my laptop to the local coffee shop earlier this week and got a lot of work done... I'm planning on doing it a few more times next week to get the class I've been taking wrapped up ... I hate having extra homework to do! (I started doing some tonight, but decided that this would be a better idea :))

10. RELAX and be ready to come back a happy, refreshed, healthy teacher.

Simply Techy: A monthly link-up with my friend Simply Teach Sew Grow

My teammate and I have been working on blogging together. We sat down one night, had some fabulous Thai food, and swapped techy tips for two or three hours. During that conversation, I taught her to start a monthly link up, like my Top Ten. So, we went through the basics and she decided to do a monthly user-friendly iPad/tech linky! I'm so excited for this, because this is my first year with daily iPads. I know I could be doing so much more with them and this is a great place to get ideas, so link up with my friend, over at Simply Teach, Sew, Grow and add your ideas. It's super easy!

The Monthly Top Ten: February

Wow! I fail! It's been since August since I posted a monthly top ten to fill out. Thank you for being patient as I work to get to know my new school and my house... It's been a quick first half of the year and I am looking forward to feeling more settled in my job and my house!

This month is all about Valentine's ... You know that one of the perks of the job is getting all that candy during the holidays and giving it away to other people because you can't stand the thought of eating one more piece (even though you secretly want it all to yourself!) Well, there's definitely candy types that I keep, just for me... because I can't stand the thought of sharing them with some of my family members!

This month I want to know ... what are your top ten Valentine's Candies? What do you splurge on for your kids so you can sneak a bite or two of the left overs? Which candies do you get a little bit excited about when they end up in your valentine's mailbox? Join the link up and let me know!

The only thing I really need to say is ... Reese's ... mmmm... the specialty ones are even better. I can't wait to get some of them in my goodie bag this year (fingers crossed!)
If you can't tell, I like anything chocolate... there's a few fruity things thrown in, but seriously, who can complain about chocolate!
Last year, my boyfriend got me some specialty chocolates from a local chocolate shop. They were TO DIE FOR. One can only hope he's still this romantic...
Hope you all have fun!

The Monthly Top Ten! August 2015

I am so excited for the second month of the Monthly Top Ten! I can't believe there is only 5 days until I go back for training! I am a little nervous, because we still can't get into our classrooms, eek! but, I know it will all work out... I'm starting to recruit people (man, it seems like most of my friends are teachers!) that aren't teachers and aren't stressing over their own classrooms to help me with the last minute list that I know is going to be crazy long!

So, in order to start calming myself down, and refocusing on what is really important (the kids!) I am dedicating this Monthly Top Ten to the Ten best things about going back to school and the new school year!

Use this image to tell us all why you enjoy going back to school ... it can be in order (mine is) or it can be out of order. It can be for you as a teacher, a mother, a student, etc. It's just a way for us to get to know each other a little better and remind ourselves that this craziness that we go through results in something fantastic!

Here are my Top Ten Best Things about the Start of the School Year

1. I get a fresh start every year, and that's pretty cool! I can learn from my mistakes, try new things, and be a better teacher because I get a new "batch" of kids every year. Things are always different, and every group is a new adventure.

2. I am so excited to meet all of my new kiddos this year! I am moving schools and just sent out a test email ... so it's starting to get real!

3. I am excited to be a part of a really amazing school this year and learn from new team mates, colleagues and friends.

4. DECORATING MY CLASSROOM. Need I say more?

5. Self Explanatory... school supplies, swoooooon!

6. It's the best excuse to go shopping, ever!

7. See above statement

8. I mean, I can't complain about earning more money can I?

9. This may seem hypocritical, but I am actually looking forward to having a reason to wake up and get my butt in gear every morning. Starting Monday, I'm saying good bye to late nights and sleeping in for the summer.

10. Learning new things is fun and exciting, and now that school starts, I get to put them all into practice.

What are your top ten favorite things about going back to school, join the link up and have a chance at winning my newest resource - your choice of math facts made easy products!

Multiplication will be done soon ... check out all my listings here

{to enter the giveaway ... blog about your top ten then post it back here by August 15th - make sure to join in on the linky party! A winner will be announced on the blog and through email on the 15th!}

Currently {July 2015)

I am so excited to link Oh Boy! It's Fourth Grade on time this month! I am really loving linkys lately because I think it's a great way to connect with other educators and get to know people outside of my area!

This month, I am currently:

Listening:
I love Master Chef! I am so jealous of every single person on this show! If I could even just dice vegetables like all these people do, I would take it as a win!

Loving:
Yesterday, I got the keys to my brand new house! Today, I got the fridge, new paint and some other things I needed. But mostly I'm L.O.V.I.N.G. my chalkboard wall that I painted today!!!! I am so excited to turn it into my coffee bar wall... inspired by these pins that my momma sent me :)

This is what the wall looks like now ... I'm painting the rest of the walls gray, and it should look great!

I have a great old ironing board and some goodies from IKEA that I use for my coffee bar now. I am excited to get this DIY done because I'm so excited to release my inner chalk drawing goddess!

Thinking
I am so hungry! But all the food I have in my house requires cooking :( I REALLY want a pizza, but now I should save my money. Guess it's an apple and peanut butter {which is way healthier anyway!}

Wanting
A foot massage! I was really dumb and didn't wear tennis shoes today. It's totally my fault. I was up and down on a ladder all day, unpacking, running to home depot and the appliance store, and moved my boyfriend out of his apartment. I guess this is what happens when I rush out of the house in excitement. Lesson Learned!

Needing
My new house is so much bigger and I have so many decorating plans in my head! I am being patient and tackling things as I can, but part of me just wants to do it all at once!

New Monthly Link Up! The Monthly Top Ten! {July 2015}

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I've decided to start a monthly link up! I'm excited for this opportunity to grow my blogging skills as well as develop a way to "meet" other educators!

I've decided to do a monthly "top ten" list ... the topic will change monthly ... anywhere from your favorite tv shows, music, teaching strategies, picture books, anything you could possibly list in a top ten list! I am so excited to start this link up, and I hope that I will reach a lot of educators this way.

I know that I've just started blogging {for about the 5th time} but, I'm really finding it a lot easier this time around to find the time to commit to running a serious teacherpreneur business and cannot wait to see where it takes me!

This month, I have been working on new projects like crazy for TPT, so I decided to theme my monthly top ten around that. I am a tv-aholic and watch anything and everything... especially while working (thank goodness for laptops so I can sit on my couch in my sweats!)... so this month, the top ten list is: Top 10 TV Shows {to watch while creating, grading, blogging and lesson planning} I am so thrilled to see everyone's answers and learn about some great new shows (I can't ever decide on a new show without some help!)

Here are my top ten favorites! I have an obsession with crime shows, I know ... I think it's because it's the complete opposite of what I do in real life! This was a lot tougher than I was expecting, because I always have the tv on, but putting them into a list was more difficult than I thought... but it was so fun!

So, go ahead, blog away! Don't forget to link back here so we can read all of your fabulous recommendations!
